A Summary of Saturday

You may have noticed we have yet to fill you in on the excited activities from Saturday.  The truth is, it was a mild kind of day.  We were late to rise and not terribly energetic (as evidenced by Lukas putting his sweater on inside out) after our three days of high activity and we spent most of the day meandering about Reykjavik.  There was a lot of window shopping and general information gathering about goods and prices available (not very many and a tad too high).

There were a couple notable events, however.  Some of us tried one of Iceland's national foods: minke whale.  Yeah, I know what you're thinking (well, some of you) and we had some moral qualms.  But, when in Rome...  Truthfully, it tasted like a salty, slightly fishy steak of the beef variety.

Additionally, we visited the weekend flea market.  Everything you can possibly buy in Iceland is available in this tightly packed, somewhat overwhelming indoor extravaganza.  From shark to shoes, you got it.  We do have a brief video if you're truly interested in getting a sense of the scope, but we're going to omit it here for more exciting photo-documentation.

We will conclude this post by pointing out that in the photos below you will see evidence that Lukas "Commando Cello" has, indeed, been practicing his cello.  It has happened on multiple occasions.
