Farewell to Iceland

This final post of the Iceland Invasion comes to you from a very jet-lagged mind.  Forgive it.

Our day of departure was bittersweet, as most departures are.  We had one last chance to romp through the city with which we have now become familiar, one last chance to sip hot chocolate at Cafe Stofan, visit shops, and snap photos.  Naturally, it was the best weather yet for photos (after the morning snow/hail storm, of course).

We made it home safe and sound, though we did pause for Security to check Annie's bag for forks.  What is it with this group and cutlery?!

Enjoy the final batch of digital memories.  We learned and grew and took immense pleasure in our trip.  We hope you did, too.  Thank you for joining us on our adventure!

With Love,
The Iceland Crew

7:00 a.m. from inside the house.
                                One last heitt súkkulaði.
The harbor on our final morning.
                                At the harbor's sea wall.
Santa Gina (ha ha!) in front of the Christmas Shop.
                                At the bus terminal.
                                In the bus terminal.
                                 Icelandic bus!
To the airport we go!  It started hailing seconds after we climbed in.
                                Last sights in Iceland.

                                            Farewell, Iceland!
                                Greenland icebergs.
                                Greenland.
Greenland tries to ensnare travelers with promises of love!
Waiting for the final leg of the trip - and very, very tired.

                                 Seattle!
                                Still awake!
One of our flight attendants - he thinks Annie is beautiful and beat-boxed the
Super Mario Bro.'s theme song!
                                Asleep!
All buckled in for our landing!

We're home, California!  We missed you!
